About This Journal
Learn more about the journal, its editorial focus and research coverage.
Sriwijaya Journal of Neurology (SJN) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality, original research in the neurological sciences. Its primary aim is to provide a leading platform for clinicians and neuroscientists to disseminate significant findings in clinical and translational neuroscience, with particular emphasis on research originating from Indonesia and Southeast Asia while remaining of international relevance.
Scope
The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, narrative reviews, and case reports across, but not limited to, the following areas:
Area Representative topics
Neurodegenerative Disorders Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, pathophysiology, CSF and serum biomarker development, and longitudinal assessment of disease progression.
Cerebrovascular Disease & Stroke Acute ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke, thrombolysis and thrombectomy, vascular cognitive impairment, and secondary prevention.
Cognitive Neuroscience & Aging Cognitive function and decline, dementia, geriatric neuropsychiatry, occupational influences (e.g. shift work), and validation of neuroimaging and behavioural tools.
Neuro-oncology CNS tumours—particularly meningioma and glioma—with attention to genetic (e.g. NF2) and modifiable (BMI, hypertension) risk factors.
Neuroimmunology & Post-Infectious Syndromes Guillain–Barré syndrome, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune encephalitis, and risk-stratification tools.
Headache, Pain & Sensory Disorders Neuropathic pain, burning mouth syndrome, migraine, central sensitisation, quantitative sensory testing, and functional neuroimaging.
Peripheral & Neuromuscular Disorders Carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and myopathy, with occupational and systemic risk-factor analysis.
Epilepsy & Clinical Neurophysiology Seizure disorders, electroencephalography, and evoked-potential studies in clinical and translational contexts.
Article Types
Original Article — clinical, epidemiological, and translational studies (IMRAD; CONSORT/STROBE/STARD).
Systematic Review / Meta-analysis — PRISMA-compliant, with a flow diagram and PROSPERO registration.
Narrative / Literature Review — authoritative syntheses of an emerging neurological topic.
Case Report / Series — instructive presentations (CARE) with signed patient consent.
Brief Communication — concise preliminary or focused findings.
Clinical Image — a teaching image with concise commentary (e.g. neuro-imaging, examination signs).
Letter / Editorial — scholarly correspondence; editorials are usually invited.
Study Designs
SJN particularly encourages methodologically rigorous submissions employing prospective cohort studies, case-control studies, and cross-sectional analyses.
