Journal of Islamic Communication Studies (JICoS) menerbitkan artikel hasil penelitian dan kajian konseptual tentang teori, praktik dan tren komunikasi Islam kontemporer dengan perspektif multi dan interdisipliner. Jurnal ini menerbitkan hasil penelitian dan kajian konseptual bidang komunikasi Islam meliputi public speaking, penyiaran, komunikasi massa dan jurnalistik, serta kajian new media.
This journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse on the theories, practices, and contemporary developments in Islamic communication from multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives. It seeks to explore the dynamic intersections between Islamic principles and communication studies, fostering critical discussions on how Islamic values shape and are shaped by modern communicative practices. By integrating diverse academic lenses—including cultural studies—this journal aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of Islamic communication in a globalized and digitally interconnected world.
Scope
The journal welcomes high-quality research encompassing, but not limited to, the following areas:
Islamic Public Speaking: Classical and contemporary Islamic oratory (khutbah, wa’az, tazkirah), persuasive communication in Islamic preaching (da’wah), comparative studies of Islamic and Western rhetorical traditions, the role of charisma and authority in Islamic leadership communication, etc.
Islamic Media Studies: Digital media and Muslim audiences, Islamic ethics in journalism and media production, representation of Islam in global media (framing, bias, Islamophobia), muslim audiences and media consumption patterns, social media and the digital Ummah: Online fatwas, cyber-Islam, and virtual communities, etc.
Islamic Broadcasting and digital Communication: Islamic television and radio, streaming platforms and Islamic entertainment, digital activism and Muslim influencers in the online space, etc.
Islamic Communication Methods and Da’wah Strategies: Da’wah (Islamic propagation) strategies, interfaith dialogue, the application of Islamic teachings in interpersonal and mass communication, etc.
The journal encourages comparative, cross-cultural, and critical approaches that deepen the understanding of Islamic communication in both Muslim-majority and minority societies. Studies employing qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methodologies are welcome, particularly those addressing contemporary challenges such as digitalization, globalization, and multiculturalism within Islamic communication frameworks.
